Mail Missions

What is a #MailMission?

It is letters or cards being send for a specific purpose, for example, to cheer someone, remembering our troops, a holiday or milestone birthday.

We’ve created this separate Mail Mission page so people who may be looking to send additional mail and positive messages out into the world, can find the information in one place, and the same request isn’t posted several times.

Please have a look through and if you participate in any of them, let us know so we can see how much love LetterMo members are sending out in the world! ♥

If you want to let us know about a new mail mission, please comment and indicate whether it is “Ongoing” or it has a deadline, then the recipient details/link. Thank you!

ONGOING – WRITE TO THE TROOPS

One of the original Mail Missions! We currently have addresses for US, Canadian and Australian Forces. They accept year round but may also request for special occasions. If you want to share information about your country, please let us know by sending a message.
Please read mailing instructions carefully as they will have specific requirements to ensure your letter gets there.

Defence welcomes all expressions of public support for their people deployed on operations overseas. One way to show support is to send “Postcards to the Troops.” The troops appreciate the messages of goodwill and proudly display the handicraft. Postcards to the troops can be sent to:

ONGOING – The World Needs More Love Letters

One of the newer Mail Missions, and you may have seen their story in the news or social media. This group is a global love letter writing community, helping others through kind words and snail mail. Each month, the website is updated with requests for a person who could use a little love and compassion. They are nominated by a friend who knows how snail mail can make things better. ONGOING – From Me to You

Something as simple as receiving a letter can make the world of difference to a friend or family member suffering from cancer. It is often heard that emotional support disappears as patients embark on surgery and treatment, as those close to them just don’t know what to say or how to communicate. From Me to You hopes their story will inspire you to put pen to paper and write that first letter, whether to someone you know, or to donate a letter, to help someone feel a little less alone during such a challenging time. They offer writing tips to help you get started.

ONGOING – Cards of Hope (Foster Youth)

Many foster youth never receive cards for holidays, birthdays or “just because”. The Braid Mission’s Cards of Hope program makes sure they do. Throughout the year, they send cards for foster youth (ages 6-16), as well as to their staff and social workers.
You can send them a few cards whenever you are inspired – birthday cards, encouragement cards, or both.
