I don’t remember ever getting a response in writing to any of the letters I have written. I have gotten some verbal acknowledgements; I remain convinced that letters matter and help create a bond with others. This year my first challenge letter will be written to my granddaughter, aged 10 months. It will be years before she reads it and maybe I won’t be around when she does, but she will know I love her and that she is important in this world when she reads it.
