To add a little bit of fun this year, you can report your mail sent and unlock some badges as you achieve each goal. These will appear on your user profile. Just report in daily about what you mailed and start collecting stamps for your profile. (You do have to be signup for the challenge to collect stamps.)
You get points for the number of days that you send mail. Plus there are some bonus actvities like, “Austen-style” or “international.”
Check out the list of achievements and start telling us about your mail.
This is pretty awesome!! I hope that I can check in daily, your site doesn’t always work on my phone :/ Will I be able to log previous days?
Sent one handwritten letter today to a pen pal in California. Decorated envie.
Sending out 2 items, poems from a book my mother gave me.
Make sure you are reporting in the form on the “What did you mail?” page. Comments are wonderful, but aren’t recorded toward achievements.
On the page where you report what you mailed…I have a question about where it says “total number of items mailed” – do you put the total you mailed that day or your total for the month?
Your total for the day. If you are playing catch-up, then use the form twice and report in for each day.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I love this! Makes it more of a challenge and feels like even more of an accomplishment. I have my eye on that Austen Style badge!
How does the number of letters you send each day affect your score, if at all?
We are having a leaderboard of top mailers, but that got slowed down due to stomach flu and snow. Soon, I hope.
Maybe there could be a creativity (or call it something more creative!) badge, for sending original poems/songs/artwork/stories?
How about an achievement for using nice (special issue) stamps rather than standard ones (e.g. Queen’s head, liberty bell forever, stamp labels…)…. and what about an even special achievement for sending an Austen style item of mail with an Austen stamp on!?
Once I’m sure the site is stable, I’ll start rolling out more achievements, but after yesterday’s terrors I’m afraid to introduce anything new. I’m keeping a list for next year and these are definitely fun ones.
